When her father first visited Las Cortinas it was love at first sight, leading to his purchase of the farm in the early 90’s. Since his passing, his daughter Iris has taken over with the help of her sisters and other family members. In order to properly maintain and manage her father’s legacy, Iris studied agronomic engineering to learn about ways to improve the quality and production processes. The name Las Cortinas can be translated as curtains, which comes from many tree barriers that were planted in order to protect the coffee plantations from strong winds that tend to blow during the winter months. Finca Las Cortinas has been working to implement many changes and continues to invest in equipment and processes to help with processing methods and their continual commitment to quality.
