Farm: Palo Blanco
Altitude: 1600-1890 Meters
Varietals: Bourbon, Caturra, Catuai
Production Method: Washed
Product Notes: Finca Palo Blanco was purchased by the Ovalle Altuve Family in 1990. Since then they have transitioned the farm from chemical and conventional to specialty and organic. In order to accomplish this, they had to plant new trees and work to rebuild the topsoil which had been washed away and destroyed by conventional agricultural practices. The cool climate and high altitude of this mountainous region allow for some of the slowest growing, sweetest and unique coffees in Guatemala. While exceptional climate and elevation play key roles in the development of flavor, the effort and expertise of the coffee farmer is also extremely important.
