Indonesia Solok

Spices, Vanilla + Mint, Blackberry, Medium Body, Clean Finish
Country: Indonesia
Region: Sumatra
Altitude: 1500 Meters
Varietals: Sigararutang, Kartika, Lini S
Production Method: Washed
Product Notes: Typically, coffees coming from Indonesia go through a traditional processing method called Giling Basah that produces low acidity, thick body, and rustic flavors, often described as earthy. We were certain though that Indonesia was producing coffees with more complexity and uniqueness, so in October 2016 we set out to find it. Put simply, we wanted coffee with a clean, sweet, and complex profile that would be traceable to individual producers and that would allow for repeat purchases; and we found exactly what we were looking for at Solok. Located 1500 meters above sea level young producers at the Solok co-op were not only trying new methods, but were extremely committed to generally producing high quality Sumatran coffee. In addition to an incredibly warm welcome, the crew at Solok explained their plans for expansion and hopes for making improvements to the farm’s operation in order to reach the quality they (and we) are searching for. Vigilante is pleased to be the first roaster to offer this coffee in the US and are looking forward to growing with our newfound partners.
