Cup of Excellence: Nicaragua El Lovo

Maple syrup, raisin, tangerine, silky body, sweet finish

Named after his sister, Finca Santa Teresa is one of three farms that Luis Joaquin Lovo and his brother own. Located in Dipilto, just a stone's thrown away from Nicaragua's northern border with Honduras, the three farms are each less than a mile apart. The Lovo family is no stranger to producing high quality coffees and have had great success in the Cup of Excellence competition in previous years as well. Luis prides himself on the care of his farm and coffee trees. When asked what he plans to invest the profits from the auction on he said he will "reinvest in the physical improvements of the farm, its staff and the social demands of the workers." Luis knows that without a strong team, consisting mostly family, this would not be possible.
The Cup of Excellence is the most prestigious competition and award for high quality coffees. Thousands of coffees are submitted in 10 coffee growing regions to determine the highest quality being produced in each region.
