The origins of all coffee are found in Ethiopia. Legend has it a goat herder named Kaldi discovered the coffee tree when his roaming herd of goats began to eat the coffee cherries. As the goats gained energy and began hopping all around Kaldi took notice and tried the cherries himself. Fast forward to today and Ethiopia is still producing the worlds best coffees. The most complex, rich, and diverse taste come from Ethiopian coffees. This particular coffee, Worka Chelbessa, is a prime example of this. Grown in the famous coffee region of Yirgacheffe (specifically, Gedeb) at a high elevation near 2000 meters. The coffee, once harvested, is laid out on African raised beds under shade for 10-12 days allowing the bean to dry to a comfortable level.
This coffee is rich & floral with a velvety mouthfeel, a fruity and bright acidity. We roast this coffee lightly to bring out these intrinsic flavors. It is our goal of the green buying team at Vigilante to feature the four distinct growing regions of Ethiopia and we’re proud to release this as the first of these four.
